In ´98 the brothers left successful careers in Mumbai (MTV, fashion, corporate film) and returned home to laid-back Kerala. The old questions had resurfaced: What is the meaning of life? Why is there suffering? What is freedom?

Years went by as they chased these mysteries. Finally, in 2015, they made their first feature Chaayam Poosiya Veedu (The Painted House). This was followed by Ottayaal Paatha (The Narrow Path) in 2016 and Maravi (Lost) in 2017.

´Everything one is sure about only adds to ones ignorance´ they say. ´All a person can do is to give up the search for certainties and be content to just live here. To us, this letting go is freedom.´

Santosh´s wife Jamuna is a banker and his daughter Maitreyi is an assistant director in their films. Satish´s wife Archana is a radio newscaster and his daughter Niranjana is going through life as a kid. Their father V. Babusenan is a Sahitya Akademi award winning writer, and mother Ambika Devi, a retired official. And very often, these two fish the middle-aged brothers out of the financial whirlpools they get into with their movie making.
